  The Federal Government has applauded the acquittal of a Nigerian , Ibrahim Abubakar Ibrahim , by a court in Saudi Arabia . He was set free on Thursday by the Saudi authorities after being tried and acquitted on allegations of drug trafficking by three courts. Ibrahim , who was sponsored by the Zamfara State Government to perform Umrah in 2017 , was arrested on arrival in Jeddah for alleged drug trafficking . He was subsequently tried and was exonerated by three courts in Saudi Arabia but the Prosecutor General ordered the re -trial of the case . However , based on Presidential directives , the Attorney -General of the Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate -General in Jeddah intervened in the matter to establish and uphold the innocence of Ibrahim .   Quorum Aviation Limited , the owner of the helicopter that crashed into a building at Opebi , Lagos State , has identified the three victims of the accident. It noted that those aboard the crashed helicopter were its crew members . However , the airline did not give the names of the victims . This was contained in a statement issued by the company after the crash on Friday .   Several persons were feared dead this morning following a bloody clash at Emene, Enugu involving members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and security agents. A witness said trouble started at about 7.00am when some police personnel stormed an IPOB gathering at Community Secondary School Emene and attempted to disperse the group and make arrests.   Following the Federal Government ’s directive on Friday that the University of Lagos Senate should nominate an acting vice -chancellor , the newly appointed acting vice - chancellor , Prof Omololu Soyombo , has stepped down. The governing council , led by pro -chancellor , Dr Wale Babalakin , had appointed Soyombo 10 days ago after it sacked Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe .   A 30 - year -old woman from Ogidi , in the Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State on Saturday allegedly threw her new born baby boy into the toilet.  JAMB announces new date for 2020 post-UTME screening The 2020 / 2021 post- Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination screening will commence in Nigeria ’s higher institutions on September 7. The agreement was reached at a meeting between the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and Vice -Chancellors , Rectors , and Provosts of tertiary institutions on Monday . Registrar of JAMB , Prof Is - haq Oloyede , who made the announcement , said the screening would now hold between September 7 and November 18 .
